Stop Putting Off Self-Care: Your Health Won’t Wait

There are endless reasons why we don’t get the care we deserve.
Money. Insurance headaches. Time. Or the classic: “I’m fine, I’ll deal with it later.”

Sound familiar?

At Energy Fitness, our personal trainers, massage therapist, and energy healing practitioners act as your self-care partners. We’re here to be that extension of your health team — not just telling you what to do, but working with you to keep you feeling your best.

Why We Put Off Taking Care of Ourselves

For many people, it comes down to finances — limited insurance coverage or high deductibles can make health care feel out of reach. Often, the basics are covered, but anything extra feels like a burden, so self-care gets pushed to the back burner.

For others, it’s an attitude problem:

  • “I’ll do it later.”
  • “I’m too busy.”
  • “It’s boring.”
  • Or worse… “I’m fine.”

But here’s the truth: ignoring your health is not a flex. Eventually, the body collects the bill.

Self-Care Is Not Selfish

I’ve both paid for and bartered my services for massages, facials, haircuts — whatever it took. Because taking care of yourself feels amazing and liberating. And the ripple effect? Better energy, more confidence, and fewer regrets later.

Ask yourself these questions 👇

  • Is there a health concern you’ve ignored out of fear? (That suspicious lump isn’t going away by pretending it doesn’t exist. Peace of mind beats lurking worry.)
  • Do your teeth, feet, or posture bother you every day? Why live in discomfort when fixes exist?
  • Are you overdue for a routine maintenance appointment — physical, dentist, eye exam?
  • Do you get at least 7 hours of sleep most nights? (Your brain and muscles demand it.)
  • Are you happy with your hair, nails, or skin? Small upgrades can give you major confidence.
  • Are you stretching, moving, and fueling your body in ways that support longevity?
  • How’s your stress level? Do you have strategies to lower it, or are you running on fumes and caffeine?
  • Are you drinking enough water? (Half your bodyweight in ounces is a good baseline.)
  • How’s your digestion? Frequent bloating, constipation, or heartburn aren’t “normal” — they’re red flags.
  • Are you staying on top of screenings? (Mammogram, prostate exam, colonoscopy, blood pressure, cholesterol) based on age and risk factors.
  • How strong are you? Can you lift groceries, climb stairs, or get off the floor without struggling?
  • Do you get outside daily? Sunlight, fresh air, and vitamin D do wonders for mood and immunity.
  • Are you making time for joy? Laughter, hobbies, and connection all lower stress hormones and support long-term health.
